Personal Documentation
Marc White & Co are qualified to act on your behalf as your Notary Public to legally accredit a wide range of personal documentation, including:
Individual Power of Attorney
If you need someone to act on your behalf in legal matters either in the UK or internationally, then you will probably need to issue a Power of Attorney. This can save you the time and expense of travelling abroad to deal with legal issues. You may be supplied with the PoA by the person overseas who will act on your behalf, but you will need a UK legal representative to witness it.
At Marc White & Co we can support you throughout this process. As a qualified Notary, Marc is able to formally witness your PoA and provide you with an Apostille confirming it is legally recognised.
Affidavits, Declarations and USA Acknowledgements
The legal systems of the different states of the United States of America often require documents used for the transfer or conveyance of property, documentation related to mortgages and finance, letters of authorisation or consent, and many other to be formally notarised. For some states, however, it is necessary to complete an additional step known as legalisation’ after notarisation. This involves submitting the document to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office so that they can attach an Apostille’ a certificate confirming the signature and seal of the notary.
As a Notary Public and experts in US cross-border law, we can review all the relevant paperwork and liaise with the FCO on your behalf, ensuring that all relevant documentation is legally recognised in the US.
Notarised Translations
Some official UK documents, such as sponsorship letters, financial documents and powers of attorney, have to be translated in order to comply with another country’s legal system. When a translation needs to be presented to a government authority or is needed in the context of an official or administrative procedure, there will usually be a requirement to present a certified translation.
We can notarise, authenticate and witness documents for UK study, getting married abroad or registering an overseas branch of a UK company, as well as liaising with lawyers, embassies, consulates and the Foreign and Commonwealth office as part of our many notarial services.
Letters of Sponsorship
There are specific legal requirements that must be met by visitors to and from the UK to establish that you are a genuine visitor planning a visit for not longer than the period that you state. A Letter of Sponsorship is also required with many applications for overseas education programmes as the education provider will be providing accommodation for the duration.
We can notarise sponsorship letters and the official documents needed for studying abroad and for visitors to the UK. We can also provide translated versions for all parties where requested.
